Nylda Dieppa, TWH 2026 Teaching Assistant (Poetry and Fiction)
Nylda Dieppa is the author of Alborada: A Poetic Memoir Across Cultures, winner of a Silver Royal Palm Award in 2015. The second, enhanced edition was published as Alborada (Dawn): A Cross-Cultural Memoir in Poetry. It received an Honorable Mention for the 2024 Juan Felipe Herrera Best Poetry Book Award in the One Author–English category. Her chapbook Crumbs is a finalist in the 2025 Royal Palm Literary Awards.
Nylda’s work has been published in Cadence,Of Poets & Poetry, Somos en Escrito, La Respuesta, and America magazines. She has read her work at various venues including the American University of Paris, the Polasek Museum in Winter Park, and Timucua Arts in Orlando, Florida. She has also performed at Medgar Evers College, Cornelia Street Café and The Ear Inn in New York City, as well as Casa Aboy and Poet’s Passage in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Nylda serves as Vice-president of the Orlando Area Poets group as well as on the board of the Florida Writers Foundation (FWF) as its Vice-president. She led the Maitland Writers Group, affiliated with FWF, for nine years and published its monthly newsletter. She is a judge for FWF’s Silver Palms Award literary contest, and others. Nylda publishes her newsletter “Word Sketches” and FWF’s “Sunshine State Literacy Spotlight.” She coaches general population writers and members of marginalized communities at Word Sketches Book Coachin.
