Susan Thornton, TWH 2026 Directors Assistant (Fiction, Nonfiction & Poetry)

Susan Thornton is the author of On Broken Glass: Loving and Losing John Gardner, published in 2000 by Carroll & Graf, New York.

Her short fiction has been reprinted in The Best American Mystery Stories 2016, and Puerto Del Sol, The Twenty-fifth Anniversary Issue.

Her fiction, nonfiction and poetry has been widely published in literary reviews and magazines, including The Seattle Review, The Santa Fe Literary ReviewThe Hawaii Pacific Review,  The Berlin Review and others. 

Susan has received fellowships in fiction writing from the Massachusetts and the Pennsylvania Councils on the Arts. She held a staff position at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference for three summers where she managed a bookstore selling books by faculty and fellows at the Conference.

Susan is a member of the Grapevine Poets in Binghamton New York and has presented her poetry at readings at the Broome County Council on the Arts, and in Paris at Café Cave and Red Cat Café.

She lives in Binghamton New York where she has worked as a technical writer, an academic editor, and, for her sins, an eighth grade French teacher.
